Facebook is an interesting case in point. On the one hand, I don't think it's any secret that Mark Zuckerberg 'acquired' his ideas from some former employers, but got his plan up and running more quickly, and marketed it more efficiently. But, in many ways, he has also managed to out-space MySpace, which was established long before Facebook came on the scene. Although MySpace was originally a haven for unsigned bands trying to get themselves noticed, it really achieved it's popularity on the back of it's social networking opportunities. I'm sure they've lost a lot of users to Facebook due to slowness in adding new web 2.0 products to their package. Now it seems like they are playing catch-up to Facebook.
