Hello FS – Glad you enjoyed the interview I found it easy myself and it was and probably will remain one of the best choices I’ve made in life.

I’ve wanted to travel for a while and I was going to set off a few years ago, but got into a relationship so put the idea on hold; eventually I came out of the relationship with a lot of debt and basically just wanted to clear that and save 6 months salary before leaving. So I would have left around June-July this year if that was the case. But with the redundancy money, I got more than 6 months salary so was happy to set off straight away.

8-10 years seems a long time to wait! A lot can happen in that time. I turned 24 in August.

Nate – Thanks! We only get this life to enjoy, I fear wasting my life doing nothing more than messing it up by receiving a 40 year loyalty trophy and a handshake from a boss. (One of my old colleagues showed me his 40 year service trophy, he also got £1k (taxed) in his salary that month as a bonus – it was one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen).

Rob – way to go!! Very cool that you made the decision to just do it. I think that’s probably the hardest step. Once you start it’s probably not as scary as you might think.

It’s nice that you’re able to find work along the way to help you support your continued travel efforts.

Hey Rob! Good to hear your profile. Sounds like a great adventure you are on. I’m just fascinated with people who just pack up and go.

Can you share with us how hard or easy it was to quit your job? Had you been thinking about the adventure for a long time? Was there a time of work, or monetary goal you set to achieve first before quitting? I ask b/c I guess I have a 8-10 year goal before making the move. How old are you anyway?
